The Wolfman

If you go to see this movie expecting a traditional horror movie then you are going to be severely disappointed.   Terrifying this movie is not.  Instead its a darkly, tragic drama, showing a man struggling to remain human in-spite of his terrible affliction.   I liked how they remained true to the original story in this.  It would have been so tempting I imagine to modernize the story to make it more horrific to suit todays audiences.  But then I think it would have lost much of what made the original so great.   Also I liked how they made the werewolves LOOK human, still mostly bi-pedal, just with more hair, bigger teeth, and claws.   Twillight : Full Moon this is not.    3.5/6.0

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief

On the whole this was not a bad movie.  The story was pretty in depth, which is not surprising when the source material comes from a book, or in this case a series of books.  I really liked the concept of Greek gods and demi-gods living among us in the modern age.  As you can tell from the title.. I think the producers have plans to spin this into a series of movies if it does well.   It's possible.. I really feel they could flesh this out into at least one more movie...  especially since they must have more material from the books to mine.   Was it a FANTASTIC movie.. no.. but it was definitely entertaining and worth a look see.  4.0/6.0

From Paris With Love

Definitely a half way decent action movie from Luc Besson.  For those of you who don't now the name Luc Besson is the director of the Transporter Movies as well as one of the best science fiction movies of all time... The Fifth Element.  In From Paris With Love John Travolta (yes I know.. generally I don't care for him.. but he was half way good in this one) playing a hard boiled secret agent trying to stop a bunch of terrorists from killing a bunch of delegates.  Along for the ride is Jonathan Rhys Meyeres character... a rookie agent assigned to him..   After a short introduction these two fly through the movie from one action sequence to another.   The action is interspersed with tons of comedic one liners and situations from Travolta.. making for a very entertaining movie.   Only one short scene went over the top with a pretty cheesy line from Meyers but that can be overlooked.. otherwise From Paris With Love works awesomely for what it is.. a great action movie.   4.0/6.0
